Day 12

That's the hip-hop dancing day and the day we went to the Wanuskewin Park. Making the dream catcher is more difficult than I expected. We spent a long time there.

In this morning, my host mum woke me up and I had toast for my breakfast. Today I learnt some new vocabulary of the Wanuskewin Park. We had shorter time for our lessons because we need to arrive the Wanuskewin Park at 1:30pm. When we arrived the park, Jordan, the staff introduced the aboriginal culture for us and we watched the video of the first people in Canada. After that, we listened to some stories about buffalo and watched some dances. We made dream catcher after the show. I really couldn’t imagine that it was hard for me to make it.

After making the dream catcher, we went home. I had great supper with my host family. I had so many jokes from my host dad, it's time to go to hip-hop dancing. I think the hip-hop dancer danced really awesome and cool. Anyway, that's a busy day.

Day 11

Today my host family went to work again. When I woke up at 11 o clock, I could not find them. I cooked noodles for breakfast. Then, I watched the TV show which is recommended by Miss Fulton. The show is called "So you think you could dance". It was awesome, they danced very well. I love it so much!!

 

After that we ate dinner outside the garden .It was so peaceful .We ate the barbecue chicken, it was very delicious and tasty! Then we gave the gift from Hong Kong to our host family. They were so exciting and happy. They also gave a big hug to me, I felt so happy!!! Finally we had a karaoke party and sang a lot of songs!!! That was a great day!!

Day 10

This morning, I woke up at ten o’ clock since I did not need to go to school .I was full of energy!! Then I ate my breakfast, it was McDonald’s burger. It was quite delicious!! After that, my host family went to work, so I cooked fried chicken with my roommate Crystal for our lunch. But we did not follow the recipe and we could still made the food successfully!!

 

Anyway, it was a good experience. At half past two, we watched TV together. The TV show is called "How to make it?". We could knew different kinds if items such as car and candy! It was awesome. At six o clock, we had dinner with our host family. We had fish and beef for dinner. It was great! Then we told her about the Chinese traditions and rules at home that we should obey our parents! She said she has learned a lot of things!! After dinner we went to host mum’s relative house. We chatted for a long time and played with the little kid too! It was a pretty day!!!

Day 9

Today, I had breakfast at 7.30 a.m. I ate egg and sausages for the breakfast. It tasted too salty. I did not like it very much. However, it was still a good try. Mary who was my host sister drove us to the university. I had regular classes from 9 a.m. to 2.30p.m.. I learn new vocabulary every day. The vocabulary is about the feelings. Also, I learnt new vocabulary words about the activities. Now, I knew what was the equipment about wall climbing, go-karts and ice skating.

   You may not know that my host mom is very affectionate to me and my friend. She has already prepared the recycled materials for me to design the outfit for our fashion show. I used some old clothes and newspapers. I learnt the spirit of cooperation and working together. As I needed to work with other people, I knew how to design outfit for the Fashion Show.

At the fashion show, I modeled the black coat. My outfit was made up of my coat. It was design from black garbage bag. I wore the rose on my head. I held the flower cane which means Statue of Liberty. Statue of liberty, the left hand held with another piece of art design. I was dressed in the colorful clothing with a long skirt. It was designed from old skirt. I was very eager to have Fashion Show. I was not timid when I walked on the stage. I thought it was an awesome experience for me!

 

    After the fashion show, I came back home. I felt very weary. I slept for 1 hour. In the evening, I went go-bowling. While I was playing the bowling ball, I listened to the music. I felt bowling in Saskatoon became more formal. Oh my god! My hand was so painful. I felt go-bowling was not suitable for me!

Day 6

It was awesome but I also felt exhausted today. First, we had the class but it was shorter than usually because we went to skate which suits us for the evening.

When we were in the class, actually we didn't know whether can we can go or not until Mrs.Fuson's phone rang. We knew we can go ice-skating at the evening since it was difficult to get ready all the skating shoes. Therefore, we had skating activities when we finished school.

After our lunch, we watched movie together. On the way to the cinema which is inside the shopping mall, we were so excited and talkative in the car. Well, all our conversation was in English. If we speak in Chinese, Mr. McDonald will stop the car. When we arrived the shopping mall, we walked though the shops to the cinema, I really want to do some shopping but we didn't. We just had a walk in the supermarket. There were two movies we can choose, I chose The Spider-Man 2. It was a sad story at the end, when he fight with some bad guys, we were so nervous but finally Spider-Man won every conflict.

 

     Then, we got home and had spaghetti for our supper it was delicious. Our host mum always cooks a lot of tasty food for us so I'm getting fat. Finally, we went skating. Before we skate, we saw some boys having ice-hockey lesson. I got a hockey pack for souvenir. I'm so excited on skating because that is actually my favorite sport. I learned it when I was little. Some of friends were so scared about that, Mrs.fuson taught them how to skate and some of them know how to skate. We tried to catch Mr. Mcdonald but we failed. Time flied, we went home. When we got home, I lied on the bed so quickly and I fell asleep as fast as a baby.

Day 5

 

What's a sunny day today? After we finished the lessons, we went to have Go-karting. I think it's really great to have this kind of game. I loved to drive in high speed and it was very exciting. I haven't played it before. In Hong Kong, there are not many opportunities for us to play Go karts. I played a little car just like Go karts in Hong Kong Disneyland, but it can pass through the others. Once you passed through someone else. You will think that you win and you will have lots of happiness.

In the evening, I don't know why every times when I go back to my house, I feel very sleepy. But I can't go to sleep too early tonight because we needed to go to watch a Drama. In Hong Kong, people usually go to the theatre if they want to watch a drama. But it is different in Saskatoon; people will go to the park and watch it. They usually bring their own chairs too. Today in the park, there were many children. When the actors sang the goodnight song, I really wanted to fall asleep!

Day 4

Today was a wonderful because we did not have any lesson and activity. We could do whatever we like.

Our neighbors visited us this morning. After we finished our breakfast, we went to a shopping mall. There are many different kinds of shops in the mall such as supermarket, dessert, dressmaker shop and boutiques. The mall is similar to Hong Kong but the size of the shop is bigger than Hong Kong. I bought many things in the supermarket such as snacks and drinks.

After we finished shopping, we went to McDonald's to have lunch. I think the food at McDonald's is similar to Hong Kong. In Canada, you can refill your drinks as much as you like. You only need to pay for 1 CAD for a bottle for unlimited refill. Also, you need to tidy up your dish after eating which is different from Hong Kong.

At night, I watched video and ate ice cream with the host family. I also played baseball with Scott who is the child of the family. After that, I gave a present to George which is a rabbit doll. She loves it very much. What a rich and happy day!!!

Day 3 - Picnic at Pike Lake

We went to the Pike Lake today. There are so many grasses and trees. We can always absorb the fresh air in Canada. In the day camp, we met other host families. We played with the children who come with the families. They are all very cute and friendly. We made a lot of fun!

        At lunch, we ate the hamburger and the chips. It’s very delicious! After lunch, we went swimming! The swimming pool is so big and beautiful. Somebody slept on the grass and enjoyed the sunshine. We ate ice cream and Saskatoon blueberries in  the swimming pool. It’s so yummy! I swim for a long time and we took a lot of photos in the swimming pool. We made a lot of fun!

        We ate pizza for dinner. It tasted good. We chatted with our host family for a long time. We talked about our school life in Hong Kong and some social issue in Hong Kong and Canada. We know more about Canada. I really love to talk with my host family. They are so kind, friendly and also very helpful!

        At night, we watched the Canadian football with host family. We know more about the culture of Canada. It was so excited about the Canadian football competition.

        I become more and more in love with Canada!

Day 2

Today, we had a lesson and we went to a zoo in Saskatoon. We wrote our journal during our first writing lesson. We spent a lot of time to finish it. We wrote the entry ourselves.

In the afternoon, we ate sandwiches, some vegetables and my favorite food chocolate cookies! The cookies are prepared by Gwen. Gwen, the host’s child, cares a lot about us. I feel very lucky to have Gwen in our host family.

After the lesson, we went to the Forestry Park and Zoo in Saskatoon. I was excited that I had a chance to go to a zoo here. Also, I did not believe that I could go there today. This is one of my dream places that I longed for. I saw many animals inside the zoo. I could see some rare animals which live only in Saskatoon such as fox, black bear, peacock and gopher. These are wild animals living in the forest. I felt that it is amazing to have these animals in our world. I fed the deers and they were very beautiful.

When I arrived home, I knew that Gwen’s leg got hurt because of my bed. I felt blue and sorry. After dinner, we helped Gwen to wish the dishes. Then, we went to the supermarket. I found it totally different from Hong Kong. The supermarket is extremely big and spacious. We can find all our daily necessity there.

Also, we ate ice cream after we went to the supermarket. The host dad drove us to the nearby food store. We ordered some food without getting off the car. I think it is convenient for Canadians to buy food while driving their cars. I ordered strawberries milkshake. It was really delicious. This milkshake was fresh and creamy which was different from Hong Kong.
